I’ve been thinking a lot about a childhood fantasy of mine recently.
I was convinced at some point in elementary school that I would be able to learn to talk to animals and get them to all work together. I wanted to raise an army of all sorts of animals, united in the goal of forcing humans to concentrate into high density and high efficiency urban areas and rewilding much of the planet. (I never really considered food production). We wouldn’t even have to fight as people would immediately realize that they had no chance of winning against such an army. It seemed to me that particularly the sight of bears and snakes working together would be very intimidating.
Rehashing this old fantasy is likely a form of escapism, but I suppose not a particularly harmful one.
